Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi said: “This memorandum comes from the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of Al Qasimi University, where Al Qasimi University is working in the early stages of its establishment to excel in building its academic, research and training programs.
 
It wishes to deepen the bonds of scientific relations, to become a leading educational institution and system in the field of higher education and scientific research in the country and the Middle East, and to provide a scientific environment capable of establishing a strong tradition of scientific research in various fields of knowledge, and to play a key role in the development of the local community.
 
The provision of various rehabilitation services as a house of expertise that contributes to the training and development of individuals in various fields, and also through the formation of a permanent partnership with the sponsors of the activities and programs of the university and the donors of its students to achieve the maximum benefit from these initiatives for the benefit of the targeted and beneficiaries.
 
He added: "In implementation of the vision of the Sharjah Sports Council and its mission to raise the level of young people athletes and intellectually, develop their talents and promote sports, and based on the joint desire of both AlQasimia University and Sharjah Sports Council to develop joint cooperation frameworks between them, and to enhance this partnership, the two parties agreed to conclude this memorandum to establish joint cooperation between them."
 
He added: "Through this memorandum, academic and sports experiences will be exchanged, cooperation in the field of research, studies and consultancy, the provision of scholarships for talented players from the Council, the provision of training opportunities for university students in various scientific disciplines, the preparation and organization of events and sporting events, and the organization of championships for universities in basketball, handball and football under the umbrella of the Sharjah Council, which will support them."
 
For his part, Prof. Rashad Mohammed Salem, Chancellor of the University, said: “We are pleased to sign a memorandum of understanding with Sharjah Sports Council, to work together as partners to exchange experiences and knowledge and establish a community partnership to achieve happiness and sustainable development. This memorandum is a new opportunity for the university to long partnership with the Sharjah Sports Council, one of the most important bodies concerned with sports in the emirate; to exchange moderate concepts and values, and disseminate them among the sports community, as it is a constructive step to exchange views and research on various issues.
 
The Chancellor explained that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah directed the establishment of sports facilities with Olympic specifications, and concluded by saying: "Through this memorandum, we look forward to achieving the desired goals for both parties and deepening the ties of cultural, community and sports relations and fruitful cooperation with the Council, in addition to enhancing the exchange of knowledge between the two sides."​
