Conference Preface

Owing to the high status of gold, as an intrinsic currency and a standard for measuring and estimating value - historically and in modern times, our conference seeks to address the topic of investment in gold. This comes in response to the needs of investors and interested parties, particularly in light of recent global technological advancements and the resulting economic and social changes that have influenced investment in gold market. These changes have heightened the need for scholars and professionals in the gold investment industry to come together in a specialized conference to discuss its various aspects.

As investment in gold involves numerous Shariah-related considerations, risks, and economic challenges, there is a pressing need to organize an international conference where experts, scholars, and interested parties can exchange experiences and studies on latest developments in gold investment from both Shariah and economic perspectives. The conference will also explore investment opportunities available in the gold market and identify the best international practices and successful experiences that are in harmony with Shariah principles while mitigating risks.

The organizers of this international conference, hosted by Al Qasimia University, hope to deliberate the profound Shariah and economic concepts and foundations of gold investment. They aim to establish regulatory principles and determinants governing gold investment, ensure its sustainability, and exchange expertise with specialists in Shariah, economics, and other related fields. Furthermore, the conference will benefit from international and institutional practices and global centers, as well as highlighting the pioneering role of the United Arab Emirates as a global gold hub.

The conference will be conducted in a flexible hybrid format, combining in-person participation at Al Qasimia University with virtual participation through smart technologies, making it an inclusive international forum to discuss the most prominent financial issues.
