Approval and Pledge

I, (the aforementioned student), acknowledge that I have read and agreed to all the terms and conditions mentioned below for receiving the scholarship and the monthly stipend​ awarded to me​.
 
First: Students who are enrolled in the Intensive Arabic Language Program (for international students):
  1. The duration of study in this program should not exceed one academic year (i.e. two semesters). Students must achieve a minimum average of 70%, (grade C), in each semester.
  2. Each student receives a monthly stipend of AED 1,000.
  3. If a student fails to achieve 70%, he or she will be advised and given another opportunity in the following semester to work hard towards raising the average.
  4. If the student does not achieve the minimum average of 70% by the end of the following semester, his or her scholarship and enrolment will be cancelled. However, if the 70% average is achieved, the university shall review the provision of a full stipend for that student.
  5. Students may be given the opportunity to study in the summer to improve their Arabic language skills.
 
Second: Students who are enrolled in the academic majors:
  1. Students must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00.
  2. Only international students are entitled to receive a monthly stipend of AED 1,500.
  3. If a student's GPA in any semester is below 2.00, he or she will be advised and the university shall deduct from the provision of a full stipend for that student. The student will be given the opportunity to raise the GPA. If the student is successful in doing so, he or she will be eligible to continue studying on scholarship, however, the university shall review the provision of a full stipend for the student.
  4. If the student's GPA drops below 2.00 for the second time, his or her scholarship and enrolment will be cancelled and the university shall take the appropriate action.
  5. Each student must be enrolled in 15 to 18 credit hours of study per semester.

Third: Attendance
Students must attend all classes on time, according to their schedule. (See the Attendance Policy.)
 

Fourth: Summer Semester & Provision of the Monthly Stipend (for international students)
The provision of the monthly stipend throughout the year is linked to a student's academic performance in regular semesters, in addition to registering for two summer courses and successfully passing them.
 
Fifth: Airplane Tickets (for international students):
  1. The university grants a travel ticket to each student once during the academic year after completing 50% of the number of credit hours of the study plan.
  2. Tickets are only issued in the summer and the exact date is determined by the university. If students choose to travel on their own expense, they will not be compensated and will lose the right to avail this benefit.
 
 Sixth: Passport Renewal (for international students):
Students shall bear the cost of renewing their passport at the embassy of their country in the UAE. In the absence of the embassy in the UAE, students must travel to their country of origin in the summer vacation (after completing the summer semester). The cost of the ticket - issued by the university - shall be deducted from the student's monthly stipend (in advance) six months before the expiry of the passport. The booking of tickets will be done through the university. (Student are responsible for informing the university about the date of expiry of the passport at least six months in advance.)
 
Seventh: General Conditions
  1. The university will be in possession of student passports in order to ensure they are safe.
  2. If a student wishes to travel during the vacation, he or she must return before the commencement of the semester.
  3. Students must adhere to proper dress code within the university campus.
  4. Students should make the best use of their time during their course of study at the university.
  5. The student is not allowed to leave the campus or the UAE without prior permission from the university.
  6. Student shall be granted their academic transcript upon the completion of their degree at the time of graduation.
  7. The scholarship for resident students includes the tuition and textbooks fee only. They are not entitled to the university housing or the monthly stipend or any other privileges.
