The Department of Scientific Research operates under the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Al Qasimia University. The Department is responsible for managing approved research projects and activities. The department's duties and scope include:
- Preparing reports and guidelines for research activities related to Al Qasimia University's research projects, journals, and international publications involving faculty and students, as well as providing Scopus and WOS services to faculty staff.
- Overseeing the management of research projects, including associated expenses, deadlines, progress reports, and final research reports.
The Department of Scientific Research also collaborates with the editorial boards of Al Qasimia University's academic journals to ensure compliance with university guidelines and international standards and ethics. This includes clearly defining research scope across various disciplines, including Islamic sciences and studies, Islamic economics, and Arabic language and literature.
Regarding the processing research grant applications by AQU faculty, AQU Research Project Review is an Open Journal System (OJS) that has been customized to facilitate, monitor, and track the evaluation of research grant applications submitted by faculty staff of Al Qasimia University (AQU), as an initiative in support of research activities.
- Research Grant Review Workflow
- Application and signatures. The Research Grant Application Form has been signed by the Researchers, the Head of the Academic Dept. at the College, the Head of the College Scientific Research Committee and the Dean of the College.
- Submission and tracking. The principal researcher uploads the signed form using the official University email to the AQU Research Project Review system for further review and approval at the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research (CGSSR) and the AQU Research Council.
- Confidential external review. Thereafter, the research grant application will be sent for external review, and the principal researcher can monitor the progress through the system.

- Feedback and action. Once the external review has been conducted, the AQU Research Council will consider the external referees evaluation. The decision of the AQU Research Council and feedback from the external referees' comments and recommendation will subsequently be shared by the CGSSR with the researchers, as applicable.
