The Department of Academic Publishing operates under the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Al Qasimia University. Its services extend to all sectors of the University and its members. The Department's mission is to transform scholarly effort into published work that is rigorous, accurately documented, and accessible, in line with national accreditation standards and institutional quality requirements.
- Scope of Work and Services
- Books via OJS: The Department runs a governed publishing cycle for instructional, reference, and enrichment books through the University's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. This includes completing standards-based metadata, assigning Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) where appropriate, and ensuring long-term digital preservation and archiving.
- Conference and Symposium Proceedings (outside OJS): Proceedings are handled through a separate workflow outside OJS, covering scholarly preparation, editorial and production work, print coordination when required, and digital availability via University/library platforms, with institutional metadata, cataloging, and archiving to ensure long-term access.
- Book Publication Review Workflow (Official System)
- Application and signatures. The Book Publication Request Form is signed by the lead author, the Department Chair at the college, the Chair of the College Research Committee, and the College Dean.
- Submission and tracking. The lead author uploads the signed form to the Book Publication Review System within OJS using the official University email and can track progress at each stage.
- Confidential external review. The manuscript is sent for external peer review using the Book Publication Review Evaluation Form. Reviewers may attach a detailed report. Reviewer identity remains confidential, so no identifying information should appear in forms or attachments.
- Feedback and action. Once reviews are complete, the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research shares reviewers' comments and recommendations with the authors for scholarly and editorial action.
- Technical validation and persistence. Finalized works receive complete metadata and a DOI, together with long-term preservation and stable access.
Through this framework the Department serves all colleges and disciplines, strengthens the impact of the University's scholarly output, and supports Al Qasimia University's standing in the record of trusted knowledge.
