HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED ALQASIMI, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued the Amiri decree No. 2 of 2013, to establish an Islamic Arabic university in Sharjah called Al Qasimia University.
The decree specified that the university will be a non-profit independent entity, headquartered in the city of Sharjah, and can establish other branches at-home and abroad.
This came during the preparatory meeting presided over by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture festivities on Thursday, April 18 at Al Badi'i Palace.
The university, which will be inaugurated during the Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture 2014 celebrations, will be built on an area of 15 square kilometer in the University City of Sharjah, and will offer its students various academic disciplines covering the Islamic sciences and arts. Additionally, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah donated 120,500 books in Islamic studies to the university, in both Arabic and English.
