Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has strengthened its scientific and academic partnership with Al Qasimia University (AQU) in Sharjah through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at its campus in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aligns with the university’s vision to expand its base of strategic partners in the fields of humanities, Islamic, social, and philosophical studies. It also aims to advance its plans to present Islam and Arab culture in a civilized manner, promoting virtues of tolerance, love, human rights respect, and upholding values of moderation.
The MoU was signed on Friday by Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH, and Prof. Awad AlKhalaf, Chancellor of AQU.
The MoU outlines the exchange of expertise and experiences in the respective fields of both institutions, conducting and publishing studies and research in their respective journals and publications, utilizing each other’s learning resources and databases, and establishing a unified index of scientific and academic resources. This would facilitate easy access and benefit both institutions. Additionally, the agreement includes the exchange of publications, books, periodicals, and research in various languages, and collaboration in logistics, human resources, and technical services, including halls, libraries, technical centers, and facilities for conducting activities and events. It also covers the organization of cultural and scientific activities, joint community service projects, awareness initiatives, and media campaigns to enhance national identity and foster a sense of belonging and pride in the country. Furthermore, it provides opportunities for practical training for employees at each other’s institutions, and offers professional training and summer job opportunities for students of MBZUH, along with any other areas of cooperation agreed upon by both institutions.
Dr. Al Dhaheri said that the signing of the MoU with AQU reflects MBZUH’s commitment to scientific partnerships. He considers these partnerships the best way to exchange expertise and information with local academic institutions and benefit from shared experiences in upgrading and developing educational and knowledge programs.
"This step is also part of the university’s strategy to engage with scientific institutions within the country, enhance scientific and academic exchanges, strengthen knowledge ties, and establish scientific partnerships that serve its mission in this regard, believing in the integration and synergy of roles to serve the nation in various fields," he added.
The MBZUH chancellor said his institution will strive to achieve the practical and academic goals of the MoU, affirming that it marks the true beginning of a future strategic collaboration with AQU. He highlighted the commitment of both sides to enhancing their cultural and knowledge ties and working together to advance and develop university studies in the field of humanities and Islamic sciences.
Prof. AlKhalaf underscored the importance of signing the MoU with Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, noting that it will contribute to the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two universities. He emphasized the importance of integration between educational institutions to achieve sustainable development goals.

The AQU chancellor said his university is keen on strengthening academic cooperation with leading educational institutions, such as MBZUH, stating that the cooperation aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of Al Qasimia University. The MoU supports the collaboration and exchange of scientific and intellectual expertise among Emirati universities, serving the mission and objectives of both universities in promoting the teachings of Islam based on moderation, tolerance and openness to world cultures and peoples.
