About the Department of Graduate Studies

The Department of Graduate Studies is part of the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Al Qasimia University. It aligns with the College’s mission to develop postgraduate programs by coordinating with the relevant colleges and by providing an attractive, competitive academic environment. The Department operates under the Deanship and in accordance with approved Graduate Studies policies.
 
The Department coordinates general policies for graduate studies and follows up on their implementation. It establishes internal procedures for organizing graduate study in collaboration with academic departments and the concerned colleges. It helps set and oversee admissions standards. It recommends the approval and periodic evaluation of new programs and aligns them with existing offerings. It also recommends the approval of graduate courses and of program or course modifications, proposes the titles of graduate degrees as raised by college councils, and recommends the conferral of degrees.
 
The Department coordinates all student-related matters at the graduate level across the University. It works with academic departments and their graduate studies committees on academic affairs, including forming and approving thesis supervision and examination committees and standardizing the related templates and reports. It organizes periodic evaluations of graduate programs through the competent committees and reviews regular reports from academic departments. It also considers matters referred by the Deanship, the Graduate Studies Council, the Deans’ Council, or the Chancellor.​
